Frequently Asked Questions

How safe is it to pay with PayPal?

Fail safe. Go to www.paypal.com/ for all the information you need.

Do I pay anything for the first 25 chapters of Love Lies Bleeding?

Not a cent. The first 25 chapters are a gift.

Should I apply for the 25 Chapters before I order the 7 Clandestine Chapters?

Absolutely: unless you have read and loved Kate’s previous novels and know that – as top-selling author Marian Keyes has promised - you are guaranteed a great read. This is what it’s all about: offering you, the reader the opportunity to decide at which point you wish to continue reading (or not!) You are the most important factor in this equation: this is all about reader empowerment.

Where’s the catch?

There isn’t one.

I see that there are two cover looks. May I choose the one I prefer?

The reason there are two looks is that handmade paper containing dried flower petals is subject to quarantine in Australia and New Zealand. That’s why a second cover look (batiked hearts – equally lovely!) has been made available. Of course you may request the cover look of your choice, but please be sure to make this request in a separate e-mail to katethompsonenterprises@eircom.net

You say that Kate can personally dedicate the Clandestine Chapters?

Kate will be very pleased to personally dedicate the Clandestine Chapters, but you must make the request in a separate e-mail to katethompsonenterprises@eircom.net

Are the Clandestine Chapters available to buy in any terrestrial retail outlet?

Yes. The Clandestine Chapters are available to buy in all Hughes & Hughes high street stores in Ireland.

What about elsewhere in the world?

The Clandestine Chapters can be posted to any terrestrial address in the world, as long as they are requested in the English language.

Is there an extra charge for P&P?

No. P&P is included in the €15.00 purchase price.

Has anyone ever marketed a book this way before?

No. This is an indie www first.

Could the entire 32 chapters be printed out, bound, and posted to me?

This is not a realistic option. It would cost far too much.

Financial considerations aside, think of the damage to the rain forest!

So this is a form of e publishing?

Yes. The future of publishing is the e way. In a couple of years’ time we’ll all be reading books on screen. Today’s generation has no problem curling up with a laptop! However, Kate has done something quite clever: she has married 21st century technology with a quintessentially old-fashioned, tangible product. Marian Keyes has described the Clandestine Chapters thus: ‘beautiful paper, beautifully bound and beautiful in every way.’ So, by ordering the Clandestine Chapters you still have something tangible to treasure!

I’m of an older generation! I find it hard to read text on a computer screen.

Why not share a print run with a group of friends and pass the novel on, chapter by chapter? Lots of book groups are doing this. And it’s yet another way of limiting environmental damage.

You say that the Clandestine Chapters is a collectable artefact. Will it be a limited edition?

It very well could be. Watch this space.

Why is Kate doing this?

In the words of Van Morrison:

Some people spend their time just runnin' round in circles,
Always chasing some exotic bird.
I prefer to spend some time just listening for that special something
That I've never ever heard.
I like a new song to sing, another show or somewhere entirely different to be:
But baby you make me feel so free.

And so I yearn for mysteries calling me -
That's the muse, that's the muse.
But we only burn up with that passion
When there's absolutely nothing left to lose.
I make it to spring and there's no bed of roses:
Just more hard work and bad company.
But baby you make me feel so free.

I'm gonna lay my cards just right down on the table
And spin the wheel and roll the dice.
And whatever way it comes out,
And whatever way it turns out -
Well you know that's the price.

But baby you make me feel so free.
So doggone free.
